This past Tuesday was a short day. We scheduled out when we were filming and finalized what people would be in it. I gathered a few theatre people to join in. On Saturday we are filming starting at 11 and going all day. Then Sunday is editing time. I'm very excited to see the outcome of our work. It should be a lot of fun to film and then a lot of work to edit.

In class yesterday we plotted out our music video. My group and I are doing All Star. Our plan is to have this boy walking around singing to everyone. In his mind everyone is loving it and playing along but in reality everyone is freaked out by him. We will show the difference between reality and his mind by having the color saturated when it's just his imagination. We did a storyboard of each verse on Power Point so that everything was organized. We figured out what shots we needed, where we want to shoot and we got our lead guy. We plan on starting to shoot sometime this week. I have high hopes for this project and expect it to come out really nicely.

The past few classes have been focused on our trailer projects and then the beginning of our music video project. After viewing the trailer projects in class I fixed mine up a little bit by adding a white flash when the lightening strikes. In the class one student commented that the video did nto make sense that the music was so happy over scary scenes from the movie. I did that because I thought it added an ironic twist. I think that it made the movie seem a litte bit creepier. Also although the scenes are scary it still is a child's movie and I thought the happy music would lighten the mood for a child.
For the music video project we decided to do All Star by Smash Mouth. It's a fun song that everyone is familiar with and I think that it will be a lot of fun to put together.

Today we had the day off to work on our Trailer projects. I decided to change my initial idea and am now doing my project on Coraline. I finished my trailer and am very excited at how it came out. It was also a challenge to work by myself with the program. I remembered a lot of what we learned in class but a lot of the time I was trying to teach myself how to use it. That's always how I've learned to use things and it was difficult but at the same time very fun and I felt so good after figuring everything out. Overall, I'm glad with the way my trailer came out. It worked out exactly how I pictured it in my head.

Tuesday October 16
Today in class, we took our Midterm. Overall I thought it was a very fair exam and I felt extremely prepared for it. It was a good assessment of my knowledge and I did not feel over whelmed while taking it.
After the test it was a nice to just work on our upcoming project and watch some trailers. I loved the Mrs. Doubtfire trailer turned into a horror film, I've already showed about 5 of my friends. It's cool to see how transitions and music can change the effect of an entire video. I'm still debating over how I want to do my trailer, I will probably end up just enhancing it. I am going to make at trailer for Clueless because it's one of my favorite movies and I think it's hilarious. So far I have gathered clips from two trailers that were released and then clips of the movie that I found on Youtube. I'm excited to start working on this project. I think it'll be challenging yet a lot of fun at the same time. I am also very excited to see the outcome of not only mine but of others also.

Tuesday October 9
Class on Tuesday was a hands on class. We went into the GreyComm studio and got to use the cameras and lighting equipment. Using the camera's was a lot of fun, I have never used a camera like that before so it was interesting. Seeing how a simple change in direction of the lights can drastically change the light on the person in the camera view was crazy to me. Figuring out the perfect light is more difficult than I had imagined it to be. It was very helpful to get to do it ourselves and also a lot of fun. I enjoyed being in the GreyComm studio, I liked the switch up of scenario. It kind of made me focus a lot more and it was awesome to get to work with equipment like that.

Tuesday October 2
Today in class we discussed more on editing. I think it was a very effective lesson, especially just going through all the different things that we can use. Whenever I use a computer program I always find myself scrambling to figure out how to do something, so it's nice to know that when editing I know most of the things I will need and what icons represent what. It's also a lot of fun to fool around with editing.
The lighting aspect of class was very interesting to me. Many of friends are photo majors and use me as their model. I never understood why they constantly had to switch around the lights but to see the drastic change in simply moving the light over by one spot came to a shock to me. It's insane how much a little move of the light can effect how someone looks on camera.
